Something as Simple as a survey can change the World!
Our Solution
Our goal was to find a strategy that will help reduce food waste in catered meetings at schools. We have come up with a RSVP system that will help to reduce the amount of leftover food. When a catered meeting is coming up, we will have an email sent out that not only acts like your classic RSVP, but also asks you if you plan on eating or not. This helps prevent ordering more food than is needed resulting in less food waste. Community Partners
After implementing this solution at Windward we hope to introduce it to other schools starting with Carlthorp. We hope this system is something that other schools will be able to benefit from! Our easy access website for your specific meeting is accessible with a click of a button! |
Who did we talk to?We have talked Eric Mandel, Ann Marie Hobbs, and Emily Dawe about catered meetings on campus. They have given us information on when these meetings are held and who attends them. We have sent out an email to the teachers who attend the weekly New Teacher Support meetings asking them some
Collecting Data
We will collect our data by by talking to teachers who attend weekly catered meetings. We have already learned that there is always leftover food that ends up getting trashed. We will also send out surveys asking the teachers attending meetings how much food they notice going to waste and if they tend to eat at the meetings. We will then followed up with another survey, after sending out our RSVP's to see if the teachers have noticed a decrease in the food waste. Timeline |
